Our current tech-heavy lifestyle, whether it be using computers, tablets, or smart phones, can wreak havoc on the optimum alignment and balance of the musculature of the upper back, neck, and shoulders. Constantly looking down at our devices with a forward head position causes major imbalances in the neck musculature and can lead to or exacerbate pain in the neck and shoulder area.
The forward head position causes muscles in the front of the neck and chest tend to be "locked short" and tight, and the muscles in the back of the neck and upper back to be "locked long" and weak, overstretched, and painful. Rebalancing these key muscle groups can be a gateway to relieving neck, upper back, and shoulder pain, as well as relieving and preventing tension headaches.
This workshop will use a combination of yoga postures and therapy ball work for the muscles of the neck, upper back, and shoulders to help bring them back into balance. We will strengthen the muscles of the upper back and neck, and release the muscles of the front of the chest and shoulders to allow the neck and head to balance on the rest of the spine for optimum alignment.
This workshop is for all levels of practitioners, including those completely new to yoga.
If you are unable to attend live, a video will be available. All participants will receive access to the video for 3 days after the workshop to review and take notes.
