Yoga for a Happy Low Back

Low back pain has affected as many as 65 million Americans. Sitting in chairs for extended amounts of time is one possible cause of low back pain, as it imbalances the muscles of the hips, thighs, core, and low back. When some tissues lose mobility and strength from sitting, other tissues have to work harder and get fatigued and sore.

Our Yoga for a Happy Low Back workshop will give you tools to help release and rebalance your low back and surrounding areas. We will use yoga postures to both stretch and strengthen target areas that affect the low back. We will use therapy balls to create deep release in the muscles and fascia of the low back and surrounding areas to help restore lost mobility.

This workshop is for all levels of practitioners, including those completely new to yoga.

If you are unable to attend live, a video will be available. All participants will receive access to the video for 3 days after the workshop to review and take notes.

Props needed: two yoga blocks, a strap, a blanket or towel, and two Tune-Up Fitness Classic Therapy Balls in their tote, a Tune-Up Fitness Alpha Ball, a Tune-Up Fitness Coregeous Ball.

Prop substitutions: you can substitute sturdy books or phone books for blocks, a dog leash, scarf or belt for a strap, two tennis or lacrosse balls and a sock to tie them in for Classic Therapy Balls, a softball for the Alpha ball, and a kids’ play ball (inflatable ball about 7 inches in diameter) for the Coregeous Ball.
