How to Stay Consistent Through the Summer (Without Feeling Guilty or Overwhelmed)

Let’s be honest — summer has a way of throwing even the best routines out the window. One minute you’re in a flow with your yoga practice, and the next you’re knee-deep in travel plans, family visits, or just too many last-minute patio invites to count. ☀️🍹

And you know what? That’s okay.

Because yoga was never meant to be one more thing on your to-do list — it’s meant to support you through life’s ever-changing seasons.

So if you’ve ever felt that summer = starting over in the fall, here’s a gentle re-frame: This season, let’s aim for consistency with compassion — not perfection.

Here are a few ways to keep your practice steady (and sustainable) through the summer months:

1. Redefine what consistency means.
Maybe in the winter you made it to class 3 times a week. That’s awesome — but it doesn’t mean you’re “failing” if summer only allows for once a week or a quick 10-minute stretch at home. Showing up at all is still a win. Truly.

2. Make it social.
Invite a friend to join you for class. Yoga can be a great way to spend time together while still taking care of yourself. Community support makes all the difference — especially when motivation dips.  Simply open the momence app to copy and share your referral link right from the home page!

3. Use your calendar to protect your peace.
You’re probably scheduling vacations and events… so why not schedule your classes too? Adding them to your calendar makes it more likely you’ll follow through — and gives you something to look forward to.

4. Choose presence over pressure.
Every time you step on your mat, you’re practicing being present — not perfect. That’s the whole point. Even one mindful breath can shift your energy.

5. Remember: movement creates momentum.
Taking just one class can reignite your energy, ease your stress, and remind you why you started. Don’t wait until you “have more time.” Start where you are.

Summer is meant to be enjoyed — and your practice can actually help you soak it in more fully. So let it be flexible. Let it evolve. But most of all… let it support you.

We’re here whenever you’re ready to roll out your mat. And no matter how often we see you — we’re always glad you’re here. 💛
